A one day seminar on “Digital India Initiatives & Cyber Security Challenges” was organized by Department of Computer Science Engineering/Information Technology in association with DGI-CSI Student Chapter at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 6th October, 2017. Mr. Satish Kumar Khosla, Fellow-CSI and VP Global IT Services, Qualfon Inc. was the Guest Speaker for the session. 50 students from B-Tech CSE attended the session.
The session started with the welcome of Mr. Khosla by Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.
Mr. Khosla started with the discussion on the initiatives being them about the Digital Transformation by Govt. of India. He explained that increasing use of Smartphone, Social Media, Emails, Cloud Computing Services, other application of technology for Education, Health, Financial Institutions, Justice, Farmers will make this transformation easier.
Mr. Khosla mentioned different aspects of cyber security threats and their categories i.e. Crime, Hacktivism, Espionage and War. He stated that Cyber Security Framework by National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) and the core component of the framework which contain Identity, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover. Four Tiers of the framework Partial, Risk Informed, Repeatable and Adaptive were also explained by him.
He discussed the future of IoT in India and the aspect of Modern Cryptograph which is a mix of mathematics, computer science and electrical engineering.
The session conducted by Mr. Khosla motivated the students towards the newly emerging field of Modern Cryptography and the security related issues.
