Expert Lecture on Cyber UnSafe
(How to avoid being victim of Cyber Crime)

CSI Student Chapter, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an expert lecture on “Cyber Safe: How to avoid being victim of Cyber Crime” on 18th June 2024. Dr. Gaurav Gupta (Director/Scientist at Cyber Security R&D, MeitY, and Government of India) was the resource person of the event. 12 faculty members along with 83 students attended the lecture.
The lecture was organized with an objective to raise awareness about the rising threats in the digital world and educate students on safeguarding themselves against cybercrimes.
Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta (Director, DGI) warmly welcomed Dr. Gaurav Gupta and presented him with a sapling as a gesture of appreciation. After giving a brief introduction Dr. Arpita invited Dr. Gupta to take the podium and continue with the session
Dr. Gupta highlighted the various ways cybercriminals exploit vulnerabilities, including phishing attacks, identity theft, ransom ware and social engineering tactics. He emphasized on understanding the risks of unsafe online behaviors and the importance of proactive measures to secure personal and professional data.
He advised students on creating strong passwords, identifying suspicious activities, avoiding unsafe links and ensuring regular updates of security software. He also discussed on legal frameworks surrounding cybercrime emphasized the importance of reporting incidents and adhering to ethical online practices.
Q&A session provided students with an opportunity to address specific concerns and gain deeper insights into cybersecurity. The lecture proved to be a valuable initiative in fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness and resilience.
