Expert Lecture on Mathematical Modeling: Basics and Applications
18th April 2024
IEEE Student Chapter, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an expert lecture on "Mathematical Modeling: Basics & Applications" by Prof. (Dr.) S.D. Joshi (Professor, IIT Delhi) on 18th April 2024. Students of ECE/EEE/ECZ department attended the lecture.
The main objective of the lecture was to provide students an in-depth understanding in mathematical modeling and inspire them to leverage its power in academic, professional and research pursuits.
After a warm welcome by Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta, Prof. Joshi began the session by introducing the fundamental concepts and principles of mathematical modeling, emphasizing its interdisciplinary nature and relevance across various domains such as engineering, economics, and environmental science. He elaborated on the process of constructing and validating models using illustrative examples from real-world scenarios including population dynamics, industrial optimization and climate change. He also highlighted the role of mathematical models in advancing research and innovation.
The session was highly interactive with participants engaging in discussions and seeking Prof. Joshi's insights on complex problems. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sanghamitra V Arora.
The lecture was fruitful as it inspired participants to explore the vast potential of mathematical modeling in their respective fields.
