India Machine Tools Show 2017 (IMTOS - 2017)
28th July 2017
A Visit to India Machine Tools Show (IMTOS 2017) was organized by Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 28th July 2017. Fifteen students from Mechanical Engineering branch along with Faculty Mr. Gaurav Siwal, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department visited Pragati Maidan to witness IMTOS - 2017.
India Machine Tool show or IMTOS is a biennial event successfully organized since 2007. It is a niche platform showcasing path breaking ideas and innovation in machine tools. The event is widely respected by the players of the sector and witnesses participation from over 500 companies every year. IMTOS has over the years emerged as the country’s leading exhibition on Machine Tools, Material Handling and Automotive Technology.
Machine tools and cutting edge technologies in the following areas were on display at the show:
Robotics Automation, Energy Conservation, Air Compressors, Chemical Pharma Machinery, Hydraulic pneumatics, Welding Welding Consumables, Testing Measuring Equipment, Gears, Motors Drive, Cutting Tools, Power Tools, CNC SPM, Wires cables, Die Mould, Material Handling, Metal Forming Machines., Casting Forging, CAD/CAM, Software Technology.
Students visited the stalls of various companies and gathered valuable information about latest trends and technology in the market. To name a few, students visited the TATA stall and saw a portable robot developed by TATA enterprises for pick and place, welding and vision based inspection applications. The robots are built for smaller payloads. They also saw CNC engraving and milling machine developed by SEC, Pune. The specialty of the machine was its smartphone like controller. It can be remotely operated by using the V-cam mobile application. User gets notifications through the smartphone about status of completion of the job. Students also visited ABRO where dynamic balancing machines for balancing of turbines, supersonic aircraft engines and other rotors were on display. Laser cutting machines for various applications were also demonstrated to students.
Students were very excited seeing Industrial Robots, Laser Cutting Machines and advanced CNC machines. The visit instilled curiosity among students to know more about technological advancements in machine tools and their applications in industry. The visit proved to be very informative and beneficial for the students.
