Summer Training Program on
CISCO - "Routing & Switching Essentials"
12th to 21st July 2017
Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Ten Days Summer Training Program on “Routing & Switching Essentials” in association with DGI - CISCO Networking Academy. 25 students of CSE/IT/CSIT/ME/ECE participated in this program.
The objective of the program was to train the Participants on configuring network devices, Routers, Switches, VLANs and enhancing knowledge of Computer Networking.
The Training was conducted by CISCO Instructor Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering.
Day 1: 12th July 2017
The preliminary session on Network Design was conducted by Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav. He explained the operation of the Ethernet sub-layer, the purpose and characteristics of the Ethernet MAC address using CISCO-Simulator. He also delivered a lecture on Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN).
Day 2: 13th July 2017
Mr. Yadav described the structure of an IPv4 address, the purpose of subnet mask. He also explained multi task addresses, the role of ICMP in an IP network and uses of ping and traceroute utilities to test network connectivity. Mr. Yadav also delivered a lecture on Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) Implementation.
DAY 3: 14th July 2017
Mr. Yadav started the session with the explanation Switch and Hub using CISCO Packet Tracer (Simulator). He delivered a lecture on Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) Security and Design and its Troubleshooting using Cisco Packet Tracer. He discussed about Network Layer, Design Issues in the Network Layer, Routing Algorithms and Network Layer in the Internet. Online exam of VLAN was conducted.
Day 4: 15th July 2017
While conducting a session on Routing Dynamically, Mr. Yadav explained the basic operations of protocols, compared dynamic and static routing and also discussed about Broadcast Domain with proper troubleshooting. He assigned the students with a task to design a working network based on concepts on VLAN using CISCO Packet Tracer.
DAY 5: 17th July 2017
Mr. Yadav began the technical session on routing protocols where he demonstrated the best routes to transfer data from one node to another. He explained how routers communicate between each other in order to complete the task. He conducted online exam for Switch Configuration and VLANs.
Day 6: 18th July 2017
Mr. Yadav discussed the implementation of Access Control List’s characteristics, benefits and drawbacks of ACL. He demonstrated configuration of Standard ACL and Extended ACL with CISCO Packet Tracer 7.0.
Day 7: 19th July 2017
Mr. Yadav further discussed the routing protocols i.e Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF). He configured RIP & OSPF with CISCO Packet Tracer 7.0. He conducted the CISCO-Online exam for Routing Concepts, Static Routing, Routing Dynamically and Switched Networks.
Day 8: 20th July 2017
Mr. Yadav discussed the debugging & troubleshooting problem that occurs in Access Control List (ACL), An online exam for Access Control Lists was conducted.
Day 9: 21st July 2017
Mr. Yadav discussed NAT characteristics, its benefits and drawbacks. He configured static NAT, dynamic NAT and port forwarding using the Command Line Interface (CLI). He explained in detail the various strategies that customers and network engineers can use to troubleshoot their networks for optimal performance. He conducted CISCO-Online exam for NAT and Device Discovery, Management, and Maintenance and Final Exam at the end of the Session.
Day 10: 29th July 2017
A technical session on VLAN/RIP/OSPF/ACL and NAT using Simulator was arranged for better understanding the concept.
The training ended with the Q/A session.
