NSS Units of Dronacharya Group of Institutions organized a Guest Lecture on the occasion of Safer Internet Dayon 13th February 2026 to promote awareness about responsible and secure internet usage among students. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj, NSS Coordinator, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Bipin Pandey, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The session was also graced by the presence of Dr. Pawan Sharma, Head of the Department, who attended the programme and felicitated the esteemed speaker, adding significance to the occasion.
During his address, Dr. Pandey highlighted the growing importance of digital awareness in today’s technology-driven world. He explained how increased dependence on the internet has exposed users to various cyber threats such as phishing, hacking, identity theft, and data misuse. Emphasizing that awareness is the first step toward prevention, he urged students to exercise caution while sharing personal information online and to adopt safe browsing practices.
To make the session more engaging and practical, Dr. Pandey demonstrated simple hands-on examples using JavaScript to illustrate how easily users can be targeted or manipulated online. Through these demonstrations, he explained how basic scripts can collect user data or mislead individuals, thereby helping students understand common vulnerabilities exploited by cybercriminals. He also discussed the risks associated with sharing live locations and personal information on digital platforms, stressing that misuse of such data can compromise privacy and personal safety.
The lecture proved to be highly informative and interactive, offering valuable insights into cyber safety, online privacy, and responsible digital behaviour. The session concluded with a strong message encouraging students to remain vigilant, think carefully before clicking or sharing information online, and actively contribute to creating a safer and more secure digital environment.
