Thalassemia Awareness Session & Blood Donation Camp

Rotary Club of Green Greater Noida organised a Blood Donation Camp at Dronacharya Group of Institutions on 3rd November 2017. The camp was organised under the banner of DGI -NSS Wing & DGI Rotaract Club.
Prior to the Donation Camp, a Motivational Talk on Thalassemia and Blood Donation was conducted by Dr. Tejinder Singh on 2nd November 2017, to create awareness amongst students. Dr. Singh said that THALASEMIA MAJOR is a deadly genetic blood disorder causing severe anemia. One out of 25 in our population is a Thalassemia carrier. Ten thousand babies are born every year in India with Thalassemia Major. This alarming figure will accelerate if awareness campaigns are not addressed on a war footing by one and all.
On 3rd November, 2017 Rtn. Mrs. Preeti Agrawal, Rtn. Kapil Gupta, Rtn. M P Singh, Rtn. Saurabh Bansal, Rtn.Vinod Kasana, Rtn.Mukul Goyal, Rtn. and K K Sharma visited the college with their medical team.
The procedure of blood donation started with the haemoglobin level test followed by the blood pressure and sugar test after registration of the donors.
Students and staff members, who donated blood were very elated and had the feeling of self-contentment. All the donors were given a Donor Card and a gift mug.
The camp folded at 4:00PM after collecting of 63 unit of blood.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Director-DGI, thanked all the donors for volunteering for the social cause. He expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club of Green Greater Noida members for organising the camp.
