Student Counseling Programme on
Inform, Advice and Inspire

Department of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida a Student Counseling Programme on Inform, Advice and Inspire on 10th November, 2017 in association with American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE). 52 Students of Civil Engineering along with faculty members attended the programme.
Speakers at the event included:
- Mr. Kamlesh Kumar (Senior Structural Engineer in EXP US Services)
- Mr. Amit Srivastava (Software Professional)
- Mr. Santosh Bhalekar (Civil Engineer in EXP US Services)
The purpose of this counseling programme was to create awareness amongst students about current trends in industry, suitable career options and higher studies programmes in India as well as in abroad.
The programme started at 9:00 AM. It was an online face-to-face interaction with the speakers. The speakers interacted with the students via Webex online platform. The topic of the online face-to-face interaction session was “How to Engineer Your Career in a Fast-Changing World”. Mr. Kamlesh Kumar started the Session with the overview about An Ideal Career, Critical Skills for Success in Career and what we can do now to fly in the FUTURE Challenges of the Fast-Changing World. While discussing about ideal career he emphasized on few factors like Livelihood (Monetary Compensation) Prestige, Work-Life Balance, Impact (Family, Society and World) and Risk appetite.
Mr. Kumar explained the career option like higher studies in India and abroad, Job Placement in Private Consulting Firms Core/Non-Core and Government (IES)/PSUs Administrative/Engineering and Jobs in consultancy. He discussed about GATE, GRE and GMAT and their scholarships too. While discussing career opportunities, he emphasized that students should have quality of being sincere, Regular, Creative and hard working. They should feel comfortable while meeting and dealing with people and resources. He also emphasized on development of soft skills.
Question and answer session was assisted by Mr. Mr. Amit Srivastava and Mr. Santosh Bhalekar. Students showed enthusiasm and participated actively during the Q&A session.
The program ended at 11:00 AM with a Vote of Thanks from Mr. Vibhooti Narayan Mishra, HOD Civil Engineering Department.
Session was a very inspiring and knowledge enriching in terms of future opportunity for Civil Engineering Students.
