Guest Lecture on Engineering Physics

ISTE Student Chapter of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Guest lecture on Engineering Physics on 1st November, 2017. The lecture was conducted by Prof. Ravi Kant Soni, Professor in Physics Department at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
The purpose of workshop was to give the First Year students an idea as to why Physics is important for Engineering. The workshop was also focussed on discussing the basic concepts of Engineering Physics.
Hon’ble Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, welcomed Prof. Ravi Kant Soni.
Prof. Soni commenced the lecture with a discussion on the importance of Physics. He explained Quantum Physics and also discussed the Wave Function and its significance. He later explained De-Broglie Hypothesis, Uncertainty Principle and Schrodinger Equations.
The next unit comprising Wave Optics was then talked about. Prof. Soni explained the Interference and Diffraction phenomenon. He discussed Polarisation concepts and Laser. He also explained the optical fibres and phenomenon of Holography. He explained how a hologram is constructed and how a 3D image can be reconstructed from it.
Prof. Soni concluded the session with a discussion on Special Theory of Relativity.
Prof. Ashish Soti concluded the program with a very encouraging speech. He appreciated and praised Prof Ravi Kant Soni. He reiterated the importance of Physics and also encouraged the students to pay attention in their classes to understand the subject better.
