Dr. Abdul Kalam Inter-Technical University Sports Fest, 2023-24 (Zonal Level)

3rd - 4th November 2023

Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida hosted “Dr. Abdul Kalam Inter-Technical University Sports Fest, 2023-24 (Zonal Level)” from 3^rd – 4^th November, 2023. 24 colleges participated in various competitions held across 2 days. The two-day carnival witnessed amazing zeal and sportsmanship among the participants. The fest involved 18 different events for both boys and girls. Each game was supervised by a faculty coordinator.

The inauguration of the two-day event was marked with the sapling presentation by Dr. Seema Shukla (Director, DGI) and Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Soryan (Dean, Student Welfare, DGI) to the esteemed Chief Guests: Shri Ankit Kumar {Sub- Divisional Magistrate (SDM)}, Shri Ranjit Singh (Asstt. Registrar- AKTU Nominee) and Dr. Anita Nagar( District Sports Officer).

The official beginning of the event was marked with the hearing of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Kulgeet and releasing colorful balloons in the sky. Dr. S.K. Srivastava (Registrar, DGI and Zonal Center Coordinator) gave a brief discussion about zonal sports fest 2023.He said that sports is all about the spirit of sportsmanship and emphasized the importance of teamwork, spirit and harmony. He also thanked Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow for providing an opportunity to conduct the Zonal Sports. He also acknowledged other college sports coordinators for their participation. He further emphasized that an opponent in a sports event holds the same deep-rooted aspiration and expectation as that of his counterpart. This was followed by an oath taking ceremony and National Anthem.

Several games were held during the AKTU Zonal Sport fest 2023 like athletics (100m,200m,400m, 800m, 4x100m relay,4x400m relay, long jump, high jump, Discus Throw, shot put, javelin) for both Male and Female students, Badminton (F/M), Basketball (F/M), Chess (M/F) .KHO-KHO (F) Football (M), Table Tennis (M/F), Volleyball (F/M), and Kabaddi (F/M). The participants showed tremendous enthusiasm during the two days.

At the end of the 2^nd day, the winners were felicitated with certificates, medals and trophies by the Chief Guests. Students of DGI {Mehak Bhardwaj (3^rd year, CSE), Khushi Srivastava (2^nd year, CSIT) and Shravi Singh (4^th year, CSE) won Gold medals in Table Tennis.

With the motivational words of Dr. Ritu Soryan, the ceremony was declared as end.
