GUEST LECTURE ON 'TRENDS AND CAREER PROSPECTS'
(IN FIELD OF ELECTRONICS)
20TH AUGUST 2015
A Guest Lecture on 'Trends and Career Prospective' (In field of Electronics) was conducted by Mr. Shivam Mishra, Manager, Electronics For You (EFY) Group on 20th August 2015. It was organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.
Mr. Mishra covered various topics during his talk which is appended in the succeeding paragraphs:
Surface Mount Technology (SMT)- It is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). An electronic device so made is called a surface-mount device (SMD).It is replacement of through-hole technology construction method.
3- D Printers-These devices use additive processes, in which successive layers of material are laid down under computer control. These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry and are produced from a 3D model or other electronic data source. A 3D printer is a type of industrial robot.
Raspberry Pi and Arduino Board- Raspberry Pi is a fully functional computer, while Arduino is a microcontroller, which is just a single component of a computer. The Raspberry Pi is 40 times faster than an Arduino when it comes to clock speed. Even more seemingly damning for Arduino, Pi has 128,000 times more RAM. The price and size of the two devices are comparable.
Light Emitting Diodes (LED)- It is a two lead semiconductor light source. It is a P-N junction diode, which emits light when activated. When a suitable voltage is applied to the leads, electrons are able to recombine with holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence, and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy band gap of the semiconductor. LED's are gaining wide acceptance in the market for domestic as well as commercial applications due to its low power consumption.
Mr. Mishra also briefed the students on the requirement of fabricating good projects based on creative and innovative ideas. He said that the projects should utilize the latest technology using Arduino board, Raspberry pi and Microcontrollers.
The Guest Speaker expressed a desire for nomination of a good student to act as EFY Brand Ambassador to represent DGI, Greater Noida. In this regard, Tarun Sharma, 5th sem, ECE student was nominated as EFY Brand Ambassador.
The talk was quite interactive and informative. Students asked a number of questions which were replied satisfactorily by the speaker.
