Workshop on Virtual Labs

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on 'Virtual Labs' on 31st August 2015 in the DGI. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness of Virtual Labs among students and faculty members. 72 second year students (CSE, CSIT, EEE, ECE & ME) attended the workshop.

4.Mr. Guru Dutt Sharma, Physical Sciences Lab Mentor, Bharti Telecom Center, IIT - Delhi
The event began with the floral welcome of the resource persons by Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida. The director appraised the students regarding the advantages and usefulness of virtual labs. He motivated the students to utilize the virtual lab facility. This was followed by a presentation by Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Dua, HOD, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, DGI, Gr. Noida who explained the various aspects of utilization of virtual labs by the students.
The first technical session began with the presentation and brief overview of National impact of Virtual Lab on students and teachers by Mr. T. T. Das of IIT Delhi. He also discussed the daily usage and benefits of Virtual Labs. He explained the role and importance of Virtual Labs in bridging the gap between the typical syllabi of Technical Universities and existing Labs.
Thereafter, Mr. Bhairab, Mr. Guru Dutt and Mr. Nitin Agarwal demonstrated the lab experiment like String Operation, Recursion and Factorial for the students of 2nd year CSE/IT and EEE/ECE. He also discussed the uses of Virtual lab in their Courses.
During the second session, the Machine Dynamics and Machine Vibration Lab experiments were demonstrated for ME/CE II year students. After sessions in the seminar hall, students were given hands on practice in various computer labs. Feedback on the Vlab experiments executed by the students themselves was submitted by them online.
Overall, the workshop has been quite fruitful for Second year students as it gave them an exposure to adopt the Vlab experimentation technique so as to learn the basics at their own pace by doing these experiments from anywhere and anytime.
