Industrial Visit to Advance Level Telecom Training Centre, BSNL, Ghaziabad was organized on 25th August 2015 for ECE and EEE students of V Semester. Two faculty members, Mr. Sachin Yadav and Ms. Gunjeet Kaur fromDepartment of Electronics & Communication Engineering, DGI, Gr. Noida accompanied the students.
Mr. A. K. Jha, SDE, BSNL welcomed all students with brief introduction about the training centre and the advantages of short term and long term trainings offered by them. In the first session, the students were taken to theBroadband Lab in which they learnt about data communication using router and various cables required to configure it. They also learnt the concept of IPV4 and IPV6 versions. Thereafter, they were taken to Mobile lab in which two different techniques of voices and data transfer were illustrated. Methods to transfer data and voice in GSM and 3G were shown and well explained to the students. They also gained knowledge of Base Transceiver Section (BTS), Base Station Controller (BSC) and Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) related to Cellular Communication. In second session, students were taken to Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Lab in which communication techniques through fiber optics were explained to them. Various optical cables such as single mode, multimode and tools such as buffer cutter, jacket stripper etc. were shown to them.
The ALTTC demonstrated the latest trends of the industry, and provided an opportunity for understanding the working of state of art equipment in the field. ALTTC has excellent facilities for training. The lecture rooms at the ALTTC are equipped with modern teaching aids. Emphasis is given on simulation of conditions existing in the work environment. Hands-on training on systems is encouraged. ALTTC has well equipped laboratories /model exchanges for training in switching systems. The facilities include switching systems laboratories equipped with C-DoT, Ericsson's AXE-10, Fujitsu's FETEX-150, Siemens's EWSD and Alcatel's E-10B systems.
The objective of industrial visit was to make the students aware of the practical techniques used for communication, latest equipments and components used, and trends in Electronics industry. Overall the visit has been very useful for the students as it gave them an exposure in the field of Communication.
