Spoken Tutorial - Making India IT Literate
Faculty Development Program on LATEX
11 - 12th July, 2016
Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a two days Faculty Development Program on LATEX starting on 11th July & 12th July, 2016. 50 Faculties from all departments participated in this workshop. The main objective of the workshop was to make faculty member know about the software that is used for preparing reports letters and presentation.
Spoken Tutorial Project is the brainchild of Prof. Karan Mudgalya nurtured by National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), MHRD, Government of India. It is a 'Talk to a Teacher' activity developed by IIT Bombay, Government of India.
LaTeX is a high - quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de-facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents.
Day 1: 11th July, 2016
The workshop started with an introduction to the Latex by Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari, coordinator of spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay. Faculties from CSE, IT, ECE, EEE and APS attended the workshop. Ms. Shivangi first introduced the agenda of workshop. She detailed the LaTeX software installation and its compilation. All the participants learnt about the MiTeX Packages and its addition.
Next, Mr. Nitin Kumar, coordinator of spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay from Electrical and Communication Department focused on Letter Writing, Report Writing, Mathematical Typesetting, and Bibliography etc. All the participants created their own documents with the help of videos lectures.
First day ended with the question answer session.
Day 2: 12th July, 2016
The second day workshop was scheduled for Faculties of Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department. Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari along with Mr. Nitin Kumar, Coordinator of Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay gave a presentation about the introduction and compilation of LaTeX. The workshop continued with a basic document preparation on TeXworks.
Mr. Nitin Kumar discussed with the Letter Writing Document, Report Writing Document etc. Later Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari clarified the Mathematical Typesetting, Equations etc. All the participants prepared their report documents using the commands of LaTeX.
The second day workshop ended with question answer session.
