ISTE Coordinators Workshop on Engineering Physics

A One Week Coordinators workshop on Engineering Physics was conducted under National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. Of India) by IIT Bombay from 7th - 11th September 2015. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Professor, Department of Applied Science and Humanities attended the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to train the coordinators for the Main Workshop.
Day 1: 7th September 2015
The Inaugural session began with the speech of Prof. Deepak B. Phatak, Principal Investigator, National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. Of India). Prof. Phatak discussed various methodologies adopted in enhancing Engineering education. Prof. Phatak also discussed about flip lecture. Prof. Kanan, Co-ordinator of STTP of Engineering Physics discussed T10KT project and also emphasized on Virtual labs.
Prof. Dipan K Ghosh began the session with the presentation on Electromagnetism-I and discussed various topics like Electric Field and Potential Field, Electric Flux, Gauss’s Law and Dielectrics. Prof. Shiva Prasad, discussed the Maxwell Equation, Frame of reference and its velocity. Prof. Dipan K Ghosh began the evening session on Electromagnetism-II. He explained Electrostatic Boundary Conduction, Poisson’s and Laplace equation.
Day 2: 8th September 2015
Dr. Mukta Atrey & Mrs. Jaya Gaitonde gave brief introduction about the software which they would use for the workshop. There was also a brief introduction about A-View as developed by the Amrita University.
Prof. Shiva Parasad explained various topics of Relativity-I and focused on transformation coordinate.
During Laboratory Session-I, Prof. Mukta Atrey gave brief introduction about how to take the attendance, how to download the Attendance Performa and the ways to upload the filled attendance pdf performa.
In Laboratory session–II, Prof. K. G. Suresh discussed various experiment like Laser, Bi-prism and Grating.
Day 3: 9th September 2015
Prof. Dipan Ghosh discussed Electromagnetism-III and explained Magneto-Static and Vector Potential. After short break Prof. Shiva Parasad delivered a lecture on Failure of Classic Mechanic.
Day 4: 10th September 2015
Session started with the presentation on Optics-I by Prof. Dipan Ghosh. He discussed various topics like Young Double slit experiment and discussed duality of wave nature. In the second half Prof. Shiva Parasad, delivered a lecture on Quantum Mechanics-III with the detailed analysis of the Schroedinger Wave Equation and gave physical significance of wave function.<
Day 5: 11th September 2015
The session started with the presentation on Magnetism by Prof. K. G. Suresh. He highlighted various topics of magnetism like Diamagnetism, Paramagnetism and Ferro- magnetism and discussed importance of magnetism in physics. In the second half Prof. Dipan Ghosh gave a brief introduction on experimental survey of Superconductivity.
The workshop came to an end with the Valedictory Session chaired by Prof. Deepak B. Phatak who motivated the participants to create awareness and contribute in making Digital India. Prof. Phatak also emphasized on the facts of new aspects of teaching by giving new dimensions of technology.
The event concluded with the worthwhile suggestions on the methodology of teaching .The Valedictory session ended with the certificate distribution to the participants.
