YUKTI - NIR : Idea Competition

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized “YUKTI – NIR: Idea Competition” from 12th to 16th January, 2023. 92 students from 2nd and 3rd year of B.Tech participated in the competition. The guidelines of the competition were previously told to the students. Those willing to participate were asked to complete the registration process. They were required to participate in a team consisting of maximum 10 students.
The objective of the competition was to make students think beyond the curriculum, to think critically and explore newer ways to conduct an innovation, to provide an opportunity for expression of creative thoughts and to inculcate research culture.
The day started with the enlightened speech of Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Srivastava (Registrar-DGI). He motivated and advised the students to think differently and go beyond the imagination of the general masses and strive to create some innovative designs according to the themes told to them by their mentors. Proper mentorship was given to the students throughout the idea presentation. He gave some simple yet useful points to be kept in mind to perform well in the competition. All the teams were asked to have a team leader. Before the presentation of the ideas, each demonstrated their projects to the mentor assigned to them and they guided their piece of work by giving valuable inputs.
On the initial day, second year students were asked to demonstrate their ideas. The coordinator for the day was Prof. Bhanu Bhardwaj. Project convener Prof. Swati Tyagi guided the students by giving valuable inputs. Students make use of the impressive presentations to show their innovative ideas. IIC Innovation Ambassadors of the college Prof. Sanghamitra V. Arora and Prof. Bipin Pandey were the judges of the competition and they evaluated the ideas on the feasibility of the idea, way of presenting the idea and the changes it can bring to the development of the new or existing technology. Out of the six teams, 2 teams were shortlisted for the final round of competition.
On the second day of the competition, third year students were asked to present their ideas. Prof. Krati Hardya was the coordinator of the competition for the second day and Prof. Rajat Kumar guided the students to make relevant changes. All the students demonstrated their ideas in front of the IIC IA of the college: Prof. Shailesh Kumar Singh and Prof. Hari Mohan Rai. Out of the seven teams, 2 teams were shortlisted for the final round of competition. They were also evaluated on the same parameters.
On each day, the participants received many valuable feedbacks from the evaluators and were asked to make editing in the final demonstration of their ideas which was scheduled to be presented in front of external judges on 16th January, 2023.
On the last day of the competition, Prof. Pooja Sharma (IA - DCE, Gurugram) and Prof. Yashvardhan Soni (IA- DCE, Gurugram) were invited to judge the shortlisted teams. The students were judged on different parameters which included feasibility, way of presentation, pitch made, innovative idea, etc. Before starting of the competition, external judges motivated the participants and told the points of consideration while presenting their ideas.
All the participant’s efforts were applauded. Following were the winners of the competition and were awarded with Certificate of Achievement.
The competition proved to be a great success as the objectives of competition were achieved.
