Faculty Development Program on
"PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT"

A one day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT" (PLM) was conducted by Excel Design Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in association with Siemens PLM Software (India) Pvt. Ltd. on 10th May 2016 atSiemens (India) Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon. Mr. Ankit Khanna, Education Channel Manager and Mr. Ravi Teja, Design Engineer from Excel Design Technologies jointly conducted the program.
The objective of the FDP was to introduce participants to the current technologies and trend in manufacturing industry and applications of PLM software developed by Siemens in manufacturing industry. Mr. Gaurav Siwal, Asst. Prof. (ME) and Mr. Nitin Kumar, Asst. Prof. (ECE) from Dronacharya Group Institutions, Greater Noida attended the program.
After the welcome note by Mr. Khanna, the program started with Siemens PLM customer experience videos where customers from various Industries shared their views and experiences about PLM software.
Mr. Teja gave an overview on Siemens PLM Industry Software and business roadmap for new career opportunities. He discussed various PLM Softwares such as Solid Edge, CAM Express, FEMAP and Nastran with their industry specific applications. He gave a brief about Industrial Softwares NX, NX CAM, NX CAE, TECHNO MATRIX and TEAM CENTER and a demo on Solid Edge, 3D Designing Drafting Software.
Mr. Teja said that Siemens PLM Software offers the Tecnomatix suite of best - in - class digital manufacturing applications and production expertise, covering manufacturing engineering through shop floor execution. These solutions are connected together to legacy systems and to the extended enterprise by an open manufacturing backbone. Solid Edge inherits the features of both history based modeling and direct modeling. The new technology is termed as Synchronous Technology. Solid Edge makes creating and editing 3D product designs faster and easier through the unique synchronous technology - combining the speed and simplicity of direct modeling with the flexibility and control of parametric design.
Mr. Khanna then gave the technical overview where he discussed a goal to achieve global teaching competence and knowledge. He discussed the benefits of introducing such software at college level to help students widen their job opportunities.
At the end of the program, Q&A Session was conducted where participants from various colleges raised their queries. The session ended by vote of thanks by the organizers.
