Innovate Higher Education Summit

31st May 2024

 

Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta, Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was invited to attend the roundtable discussion of Engineering Institutions Leaders “Innovate Higher Education Summit” on 31st May, 2024. The theme of the event was ‘Engineering the Future: Navigating the Intersection of Technology, Sustainability, and Ethics in Engineering Education’ The event was organized by ELH Media. 

The Summit was a grand convergence of thought leaders from Premier Engineering Institutions. The Moderator of the session was Dr. Anita Patra (Registrar, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Odisha)

Dr. Anita Patra, with her extensive experience in academia and administration, set the tone for the discussion by emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainable practices and ethical considerations in the rapidly evolving field of engineering education. She highlighted the pivotal role of educational leaders in shaping the future of engineering to address global challenges. 

Dr. A Garg stressed the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies in the curriculum to prepare students for the future workforce. He emphasized the need for institutions to stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate practical, hands-on learning experiences.

Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta spoke on the imperative of sustainability in engineering. She discussed various initiatives undertaken by her institution to promote green engineering practices and encouraged other institutions to integrate sustainability into their core values and operations.

Dr. Brij Mohan Singh highlighted the ethical dimensions of engineering education. He pointed out the responsibility of engineers to society and the environment, advocating for a strong ethical foundation in engineering programs to guide students in their professional conduct.

Mr. Sanjeev Sharma shared insights on fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among engineering students. He presented case studies of successful startups emerging from engineering colleges and discussed support mechanisms to nurture entrepreneurial talent.

Dr. Honey Sharma emphasized the significance of collaboration between academia and industry. She outlined strategies for effective partnerships that enhance research opportunities, internships, and placement prospects for students.

Prof. (Dr.) Bhupesh Kumar Singh provided a global perspective on engineering education. He highlighted international collaborations and exchange programs that offer students a broader understanding of engineering practices worldwide and prepare them for global challenges. 

The roundtable discussion at the Innovate Higher Education Summit was a remarkable success, providing a platform for leaders in engineering education to share their insights and best practices. The session underscored the importance of integrating technology, sustainability, and ethics into the engineering curriculum to create a holistic educational experience that prepares students to be responsible, innovative, and globally competent engineers. 

The exchange of ideas and collaborative spirit at the summit will inspire significant advancements in the field, benefiting both educators and students alike.
