Workshop on 'Global Standards & IPR' for Enhancing National Contribution To Global Standards

Four faculty members Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta (Director, DGI), Dr. Mamta Bharadwaj (APS Department), Dr. Mahesh Kumar Singh (CSE Department) and Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora (ECE Department) from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop "Global Standards & IPR” organized by NTIPRIT as a pre-cursor to World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-2024).
The WTSA is a significant event organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations. WTSA takes place every four years and serves as a key platform for setting the agenda and priorities for ITU-T, the ITU's Telecommunication Standardization Sector. Next WTSA is decided to be held in India in Oct’2024.
The objective of the workshop was to enhance the national contribution to global standards and bridge the standards gap by building capacity of faculty members of Engineering colleges in Delhi NCR.

Global standards play a pivotal role in ensuring interoperability, innovation, and seamless communication across various industries. These standards are developed through a collaborative and inclusive process involving experts, organizations, and stakeholders from around the world.
The session helped participants to realize that developing technical and telecom standards writing skills is essential for India's development as it enables the country to shape future technologies, drive economic growth, bridge the digital divide, ensure global interoperability, enhance security, and foster collaboration.
