Workshop on "From Basic to Advanced PHP"

DGI ACM Student Chapter organized a workshop on “From Basic to Advanced PHP” for the third-year students of the CSE/CSIT/IT/CSE(AIML) Department on 23rd February, 2024. Mr. Gurpreet Singh (Team Lead, Hellotia Private Limited) was the expert for the workshop. The event was coordinated by Ms. Papiya Mukherjee (CSE Dept.).
The workshop aimed to empower students with hands-on experience and a basic to advanced understanding of PHP technology for developing their own websites.
Ms. Shruti Mishra, a CSE 3rd Year student, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Gurpreet and introduced the trainer’s achievements and experiences, and she also shared her views on the importance of the workshop, emphasizing its role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the software industry. The session was mainly divided into three parts and the schedule was.
Mr. Gurpreet started the session with the introduction of PHP technology and its common constructs and elements. The session continued with an explanation of example codes and the building blocks of the user interfaces. Afterward, the session progressed with hands-on practice, and the trainer also interacted with the students and cleared their doubts and queries. Students were provided with the opportunity to engage with web codes. The first half-session aimed to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of PHP.
Next session was focussed on advanced knowledge of PHP. Students got an opportunity to face the real platform to implement websites using the VS-Code tool and the XAMPP server. The session started with making the connection between Code and the server and continued by practicing the sign-up page and sign-in page. Lastly, the trainer also explained the best practices for the students: they should not be the slaves of any AI tool like ChatGPT, and they can contribute to the technical world by writing on Stack Overflow.
At the end of the session, Ms. Vaishnavi, 3rd Year CSE student showed her gratitude by sharing her feedback and ‘Thanks Note’. Prof. Bipin Pandey(HOD) and Prof. Papiya Mukherjee extended their regards by presenting a token of thanks to Mr. Gurpreet Singh.
