Workshop On E-Myths
7th - 8th April 2017
A Workshop on “E-Myths” was organized by “Footsteps” for First Year Engineering students on 07th - 08th April 2017at Dronacharya Group of Institutions. Mr. Rohit Sinha, NXP Semiconductors was the Resource Person. Students of First Year participated in two batches:
- 77 students of CSIT / IT / ECE / EEE / ME / CE on 07th April 2017.
- 51 students of CSE on 08th April 2017.
Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga, Director - DGI Greater Noida gave the welcome address and introduced Mr. Rohit Sinha to the participants. Prof. T. P. N. Singh rendered the introductory address and apprised the students of the importance of creativity and innovation. He stressed the need of Entrepreneurship Eco - system and appreciated the efforts put in by Mr. Rohit Sinha in this direction.
Mr. Rohit Sinha stated that 82% of Engineering Students complete the course to find that they actually lack the necessary employability skills. His workshop is designed to bridge the gap between myth and reality. He assured the students that at the end of the program they will be able to:
- Look at engineering with interest and passion.
- Have increased confidence in seeing themselves through the career they have chosen.
- Achieve increased creativity and collaborative outcomes.
- Develop leadership skills.
- See an improvement in teamwork, creativity and communication skills.
Mr. Rohit conducted various activities which involved all the students. Initially he made an attempt to introduce the students to each other. Further he divided them into teams and projected a video clip from to assess the basic knowledge of the students. The students were asked to trace the elements of physics used in those clips. Through an activity of cartoon drawings he made them play a game of improving communications, staying focused, making use of eye contact and achieving the desired objectives.
The students interacted and responded with great enthusiasm in all activities. In the second session the students were provided material to make a creative model for balancing weight. He discussed various tenets like Archimedes principle, Pascal’s theory and Newton’s law etc. His activities were based on the concepts which were propounded by these theorists. Lastly, the students were made to realize the challenges and hardships one will encounter in achieving major goals of life like completing the four year engineering course, good placement and so on.
The workshop came to an end at 03:00 pm on 08 April 2017.
