Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (Organized by)

Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp was organized by Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell and AICTE from 22nd - 26th June, 2023 at six venues (IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Guwahati, IISER Bhopal, NITTTR Chennai, NITTTR Chandigarh, COEP Pune) across India. 42 students from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida were shortlisted to attend the bootcamp at different location. 22 students along with Dr. Kaustubh Kumar Shukla attended the 5 days IDE bootcamp at NITTTR Chandigarh.
Day-1: Design Thinking for Entrepreneurs
The inauguration of the Bootcamp has been done by the Hon'ble Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan at COEP Technical University Pune on 22nd June, 2023. The event has been conceptualized based on a suggestion from our esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, and promises to be an inspiring and transformative experience.
Session was started by the motivational speech of Prof. B. R. Gurjar, NITTTR Director. Next, Mr. Abhishek Ranjan, Innovation Officer, MIC has given a brief introduction about the purpose and plan of the bootcamp. Ms. Aishwarya Aggarwal, Wadhwani Foundation has given her speech on their foundation and role during the boot camp. Continuing the session Prof. Rupinder Singh, Bootcamp Coordinator, NITTTTR Chandigarh has concluded the inaugural function.
In the next session Dr.R. Sujatha, Principal Entrepreneur Education, Wadhwani Foundation has started the session. During her session she has covered the topics like Design thinking for entrepreneurs, self-discovery, understanding the needs of the user-ergonomics evaluation and testing. After that Ms. Sangh Priya Siddhartha Rahi, Product Designer, PAYTM has delivered his lecture.
At the end of the day Bonfire: Product design pitch-1 has been conducted. At last some cultural activities have been done by the participants.
Day-2: Human Centered Approach to Opportunity Discovery
Second Day started with an energetic speech of Mr. Abhishek Ranjan, Innovation Officer, MIC followed by Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal Entrepreneur Education, Wadhwani Foundation. She has started the session with the recap of day-1 activities and also explained about the objectives of the day-2. Next, session was handled by Dr. Ruchi Gautam Pant,Consultant, Wadhwani foundation on the Empathize: Design thinking process in problem-solving contexts. After that, Mr. Amandeep Srivastava, Head Startup Cell, IITI Drishti CPS Foundation has taken the session on the entrepreneurial journey.
Er. Amardev Singh, NITTTR, Chandigarh has taken the session. Next Mr. Gautam Sharma, Founder-Surya Enviro & Surya Chemicals has explained “Innovation for achieving for SDGs”-Leadership Talk.
Finally, at the end of the day Bonfire: Product design pitch-2 has been conducted. At last some cultural activities have been done by the participants.
Day-3: Building Sustainable Business model
Mr. Abhishek Ranjan Kumar, Innovation Officer, MIC started the session with recap of Day 2 & objective setting for Day 3. Later on Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal-Entrepreneur Education, Wadhwani Entrepreneur, WF has taken the session about the Craft your value proposition to build your differentiation. Next, Ms Anubhi Khandelwal, Founder of Terafac Technologies talked on topic "Build your startup's Competitive Advantage". During afternoon Dr. Ruchi Gautam Pant Consulatnt, Wadhwani Entrepreneur, WF has handled the session by talking about the Business model. Next, Dr Pradeep Joshi, Group Additional Pro Vice Chancellor has taken the session and explained Ergonomics in product design and development. After that Dr. Harsh Vardhan Samalai Associate Professor, NITTTR Chandigarh has described Leadership Talk on "Design thinking strategies for innovation and business success”.
Finally, at the end of the day Bonfire: Product design pitch-3 has been conducted. At last some cultural activities have been done by the participants.
Day-4: Overview on Grants & Funding opportunities:
Mr. Abhishek Ranjan Kumar, Innovation Officer, MIC and Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal-Entrepreneur Education, Wadhwani Entrepreneur, WF has started the session with recap of day-3 & objective setting for day-4. After that Mr Gaurav Bikram, Founder & CEO at Buy Lowcal has talked about Story Branding for Pitch deck. Next, Prof. SK Dhameja, NITTTR Chandigarh has taken the session about the Overview on Grants & Funding opportunities for student start-up. After that, Mr. Joseph Jude, CTO - Net Solutions, Coach. Podcast Host has taken the session about the International Markets (Identifying and investing in the right Channels, Brand and Product Marketing & Envisage market position & implementation market penetration strategy).
After the lunch from 2.00 p.m onwards final round of Pitch Presentations has been started and it was conducted till 7.00 p.m. At last some cultural activities have been done by the participants.
Day-5: Pitch Your Ideas and Closing Ceremony
On the last day of the event first of all Mr. Abhishek Ranjan Kumar, Innovation Officer, MIC has been talked about Recap of Day 4 & Objective setting for Day 5. Next to that Ms. Mehakdeep Kaur CEO at 99beagles, has given the lecture about the Art of Storytelling in Marketing. After that, Mr. Vineet Khurana, CEO of Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce has taken the session about Fundraising Strategies for Early-Stage Startups: Approaches and Best Practices. There was a parallel session for the Pitch Presentations for the remaining students. Finally, during the evening time Closing Ceremony has been conducted. During the ceremony all the eminent personalities has given their short speeches and few of the participants has given their valuable feedback and experience about the bootcamp.
At last the results have been declared for the participated candidates. Overall 5 best pitches have been awarded at school level and another 5 best pitches has been awarded at College/University level. Under the College/University categories pitches of students of Dronacharya Group of Institutions were among 5 best pitches. Under the Mentorship of Dr. Kaustubh Kumar Shukla, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of ECE, DGI, students Agam Malhotra, I-B.Tech, CSE and Mr. Aditya Yadav I-B.Tech, CSE has been awarded as a Best Pitcher at NITTTR, Chandigarh under College/University category.
Takeaways and Outcomes of the Event
After attending the Bootcamp participants were able to understand the Ergonomics in product design and development, necessity of Sketch-Lean canvas, Design thinking strategies for innovation and business success, Story Branding for Pitch deck, Grants & Funding opportunities for student start-up, Identifying and investing in the right Channels, Brand and Product Marketing & Envisage market position & Implementation market penetration strategy, the Art of Storytelling in Marketing, Fundraising Strategies for Early-Stage Startups: Approaches and Best Practices. Overall the entire program was very much fruitful for every participant.
