The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized the International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF - 2017) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during 2nd - 4th February, 2017. Mr. Gaurav Siwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering visited the IETF along with Twenty Two students from Mechanical Second and Third Year on 4th February 2017.
The event focused on Industrial Automation, Metal and Metallurgy, Welding & Joining, Green Mobility, Water Recycling, Logistics and Real Estate. Students visited the Industrial Automation Hall where they saw the Hydraulic System being used by JCB in their Cranes and Earth Diggers. They learned the working of Hydraulic Cylinder, Pumps and valves to control the flow of oil in system. Students also learned PLC system used by Siemens and Control System being used by TATA.
In the Automation Hall students saw an Automated Guided Vehicle designed to carryout material handling work in manufacturing industries. They also saw some smart appliances which could carryout day to day household works like mopping, sweeping and windows cleaning automatically In the Welding and Joining Exhibition Hall precise welding and some critical spots being welded by robots was demonstrated. Starts saw TIG and MIG welding equipments from different vendors. They next visited the Metal and Metallurgy Exhibition Hall where they saw different plastic and PVC materials for various engineering application. They also saw Ductile Iron Pipes being developed by TATA Steel. These Pipes are capable to withstand underground pressure and has various applications in water supply and sewage system.
IETF provided a good exposure of latest trend and technology in industries. Students found this visit to be very useful and informative.
