An Industrial Visit to National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), Okhla was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The visit was organised by DGI CSI Student Chapter on 16th February 2017. A group of 47 students of 4th semester from various departments (CSE, IT, CSIT & MBA) along with two faculty members Ms. Shalini Sharma, Head of the Department (CSE) and Ms. Monu Singh, Assistant Professor (CSE), visited the National Small Industries Corporation Limited.
National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) is a PSU established by Government of India in 1955. It is an ISO 9001 - 2008 certified Government of India Enterprise under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).NSIC has been working to fulfil its mission of promoting, aiding and fostering the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It also offers an insight into self - employment opportunities and develops confidence to become self - employed by providing hands - on training on working projects.
The objective of the visit was to disseminate entrepreneurship skills among students and creating awareness among them to adopt entrepreneurship as a career option.
The industrial visit started with the introduction session in which NSIC State Manager briefed about “INCUBATOR”. He said that unemployment is one of the main problems of the country. This problem can be solved only by adopting self-employment. He also briefed about Prime Minister`s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). He then showed students the machines that they have and also told about the processing cost of that machines, cost of raw material that is used by those machines, cost of machine itself and some of the small scale projects which were currently going on like Tissue Paper Roll, Soya Milk, Tomato Ketchup, Socks Knitting etc. He said that NSIC also provides certified courses of entrepreneurship training of six weeks. In this course they provide the whole knowledge about how to set up the industry, how to get the good marketing strategy, from where to get raw material etc.
Students were then taken to the Seminar Hall where Mr. Abdul Khader gave a presentation on “Entrepreneurship Orientation Program” in which he told the difference between businessman and entrepreneur. He also explained the qualities of a good entrepreneur. He briefed about Training Cum Incubation Centre, Make in India and Digital India initiatives of our Prime Minister to create digital empowered society. NSIC even helps the entrepreneurs to get loan facilities and supports in several other ways.
Students were excited on having a wonderful exposure which provided them a practical insight on how they can plan of setting up of their own ventures and the resources of assistance.
The visit concluded with an interactive QA session.
The visit of NSIC motivated the student to think of career in entrepreneurship and exploring the possibilities of a number of low cost profitable projects having enormous government support for the setup and operation.
