QEEE Session on
Gradient Divergence and Curl: Engineering Physics
1st - 3rd February 2017
QEEE Session on “Gradient Divergence and Curl” was organized by IIT, Madras under D2S (Direct to Student) Program at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida through ICT during 1st to 3rd February 2017 which was conducted by Prof. Vijayan C, IIT Madras. Dr. Abhishek Swami and Mr. Dinesh Kumar, DGI Greater Noida were the Local Faculty Coordinators for the session. First Year Students from B. Tech (CSE) attended the session.
Day 1: 1st February 2017
Prof. Vijayan C commenced the session with a brief introduction to Vector and Scalar Fields. He then explained the importance of Gradient, Divergence and Curl in Mathematical Physics and their physical significance.
Day 2: 2nd February 2017
Prof. Rajib Mall, IIT - Kharagpur began the session with a brief revision of Session-1. He further discussed the notations and mathematical expressions of gradient, divergence and curl. He also explained their various properties.
Day 3: 3rd February 2017
Prof. Rajib Mall began the final session a brief revision of first two sessions. He then discussed various numerical based on them. Students also learned how the gradient of a vector results in a scalar while that of divergence and curl gives a vector.
The QEEE sessions were very helpful for students as it provided them a platform to gain knowledge in Gradient Divergence and Curl and methodologies which is presently being used in Engineering.
