Industrial Visit to Mother Dairy

An Industrial Visit to Mother Diary, Patparganj New Delhi was organized by ISTE Student Chapter of DGI, Greater Noidaon 14th October 2016 for the First Yearstudents of CSE, CSIT, IT, EEE and ECE Branch. Dr. S. K. Srivastava and Mr. Dinesh Kumarfrom Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, accompanied the students for the industrial visit. The objective of the visit was to enhance general awareness of the students related to the processing and manufacturing of dairy products.
The team was welcomed by Mother Dairy Plant In - Charge, Mr. K. R. K. Pillai. He gave a brief Introduction to students about Mother Dairy.
Mr. Jose (Factory Operations Manager) gave a presentation on the history of Mother Dairy. He described the white revolution and primitive and newer modes of milk collection and distribution. In his interaction with students he explained the technology involved in processing of milk through state of the art equipment. He also explained how technology integrates and completely automates all functions of milk processing and ensures high product quality, reliability and safety.
Students were briefed about the various stages of milk processing and were then headed towards the plant. At plant Mr. Pillai, described briefly about the process which milk undergoes, like: Clarification, Standardization, Homogenization and Pasteurization and finally about distribution of milk.
The students were shown some adulterant tests, cleaning of milk transport tankers and large containers (each with 1 lakh liter capacity). Mr. Pillai highlighted the importance of milk and its composition. He showed a room where fully automatic human operated cleanser, homogenizer and pasteurizer machines were kept.
The visit concluded with questionnaire where students' queries regarding plant, production, collection and distribution of milk etc. were answered. The tour was of about three and half hours but the knowledge and the experience the students gained would remain with them forever.
