An Industrial visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. was organized on 7th October, 2016 by the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. 43 students from first year were accompanied by Dr. Neeraj Bala and Ms. Rajni Diwedi, Assistant Professors of Applied Sciences and Humanities Department for the visit.
The visit started with a presentation by Mr. Subodh, Plant Manager, on the Emergency Exit plan of the area which is a part of the organisation's OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) certification programme. It was followed by another presentation on the origin, journey, milestones and global marketing of the product. Mr. Subodh said that the journey of Yakult Danone Pvt. Ltd. began in 1930 with Dr. Minoru Shirota, who conducted research at the Medical Faculty of Kyoto in Japan. He was the first person in the world to attain success in the discovery of these bacteria. The bacterium was named "Lactobacillus Casei Shirota Strain".
The students were allowed to visit the factory and witness each and every step in the process of manufacturing of the Probiotic Health drink, starting from the germinating of the Lactobacillus Casei Strain Shirota (LcS) bacteria to its enlargement to the desired level. They were informed that a close eye is kept on the quality control until the packing of the final product.
The importance of the Research & Development cell in judging the quality of the product attracted the student's attention.
