Workshop on
Integrated Automation Technologies (PNEUMATICS)

DGI SAEINDIA Collegiate Club in association with FESTO organized a workshop on Integrated Automation Technologies (Pneumatics) at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida during 1st March - 3rd March 2017. 30 students from Mechanical Engineering & Electrical and Electronics Engineering Branch participated in the Workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga - Director and Prof. B. L. Kaul - Registrar Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Prof. Bagga addressed the participants with his inspiring and motivational words while Prof. Kaul encouraged the participants to be attentive and get benefited from the workshop.
Day 1: 1st March 2017
Mr. Kumar Swamy - General Manager (Didactics), FESTO gave a brief description of Automation Technology, its evolution and role in Manufacturing Industry. Participants were informed about various technologies like Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electro Pneumatic, PLC and Bionics. The course covered the Pneumatic Technology of Automation.
During post lunch session, participants were demonstrated various valves and cylinders used in Pneumatics.
Day 2: 2nd March 2017
Mr. Gaurav Siwal - Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, DGI explained about the symbols of various components like Service Unit, Manifold, Valves, Push Button, Selector Switch, Roller Switch, Single Acting Cylinder and Double Acting Cylinder. He also discussed real world problems from manufacturing industry. Circuit diagrams and circuit connections on workstation for such problems were explained by Mr. Siwal.
Day 3: 3rd March 2017
Mr. Siwal continued the third day’s session with the problems and their circuit solutions.
In the afternoon participants visited the FESTO Facility Center located in Noida where Mr. Arpit Agarwal interacted with the participants and briefed them about the Company. Several presentations and clips were shown to participants for better understanding of Pneumatics. After the tea break, Mr. Kumar swamy explained the concept of sequencing and signal overlapping.
The workshop concluded with the photo session and word of thanks from Mr. Swamy and Mr. Siwal. Students took keen interest in learning the fundamentals Pneumatics as a part of Integrated Automation Technologies.
