Session on "Essential Soft Skill for Engineers to maximize success in career"

To enhance the soft skills of the students, Technical Language Society, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a session on “Essential Soft Skill for Engineers to maximize success in career”. Captain Manjula Katoch (Ex. Army Officer and certified skill trainer) was the speaker of the session. B.Tech 3rd year students attended the session.
Dr. Ritu Soryan (Dean, Students Welfare, DGI) welcomed Captain Manjula Katoch and presented her a sapling. Captain started the session with the explanation of importance of ‘Soft Skills’ to achieve height in career. She said, soft skills are indispensable for engineers to attain success in the modern workplace. Then, she explained certain soft skill traits crucial for engineers to succeed in their career. Effective communication is paramount in engineering. Engineers must convey complex technical ideas clearly to diverse audiences, including clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential for seamless collaboration and project success. Engineers encounter multifaceted challenges daily. The ability to think critically, analyze problems, and devise innovative solutions is fundamental. It involves assessing situations, breaking down complex issues, and applying logical reasoning to find viable resolutions. In various stages of their careers, engineers often assume leadership roles. Leadership skills involve inspiring others, making informed decisions, delegating responsibilities, and guiding teams to achieve objectives. For the attainment of appropriate output, engineers must have good communicative skills.
Afterwards, a hands on communication activity was performed with the students wherein students were asked to come on the dais and speak on certain technical topics. The speaker guided all about their way of communication and body language.
The session helped the students by honing soft skills and becoming well-rounded professionals capable of thriving in a rapidly changing environment. Lastly, vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ritu Soryan.
