CII Western UP Annual Meeting and Session on Disruptive Technologies Evolving Trends & Innovation Foresight

The Annual Meeting of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western UP was held on 6th of March 2018 at Holiday Inn-Mayur Vihar, New Delhi. After the Meeting, a session on Disruptive Technologies-Evolving Trends & Innovation Foresight was also held. Mr. Probeer Sahw, HOD, Dept. of ECE & EEE and Ms. Shubhi Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the session.
The central theme of the session was Industry 4.0, the Fourth Industrial Revolution which is the current trend of automation and data exchange and includes Cyber-physical Systems, the Internet-of-Things (IoT), Cloud Computing and Cognitive Computing. It is a wider inclusion of automated processes powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Advanced Robotics and IoTconnectivity in industries.
The session was inaugurated with welcome remarks by Mr. Anish Chaudhary, Chairman-CII Western UP Zonal Council and Joint Managing Director, CHW Forge Private Limited. Mr. Chaudhary also briefed the audience on the disruptive changes in manufacturing industries brought by Industry 4.0.
The plenary discussion was moderated by Mr. Anuj Khanna, Vice Chairman-CII Western UP Zonal Council and Managing Director, C&S Electric Ltd.
Mr. Rahul Aggarwal, Head-Strategic Initiatives, Metro Infrasys Pvt. Ltd. opened the discussion with the theme Mobile-first to AI-first. Mr. Aggarwal shared the experience of his organization, which builds toll collection infrastructures for concessionaires, on the problem of number plate recognition and vehicle class detection in Indian scenario and effective AI based solutions developed. He also talked about the possibility of integrating AI based infrastructures in upcoming Smart City projects by Government of India for Adaptive Traffic Control Systems.
Mr. Rakesh Atre, Associate Vice President, Munjal Showa Ltd. discussed Future Innovative Factories. Mr. Atre said that his organization, which deals in automobile parts manufacturing, believes in in-house development of CNC machines for its manufacturing facility. He presented various case studies on research and development of new compact machines and workstations that can perform various composite tasks which were earlier performed by three or more machines together.
Next Mr. Sameer Kohli, Associate Director, Analytics & Value Attainment, Lead-India Core Cluster, DXC Technology India Pvt. Ltd. shared his views on Factory of the Future. Mr. Kohli said that his organization has already been proving Industry 4.0 based business solutions to its clients. He emphasized that the new age products, especially software products, have low shelf life and it is important for industries to focus on innovation for survival. He also shared that organizations are now looking for individuals who are subject matter experts, agile and can take quick decisions.
At last Mr. Shashank Sharma, Head-Strategic Alliances, Scoreme Solutions Pvt. Ltd. talked on Convergence & Increased Cross Sector Innovation. Mr. Sharma, whose organization deals in financial analytics, said every sector requires cross sector support for its core business. He shared the experience of his organization on providing software solutions to a private banking firm to assess the loan applications of various SMEs using big data analytics. He mentioned that it would have been a tedious and time consuming task if the assessment was carried out manually.
The session concluded with Q&A and closing remarks by Mr. Anuj Khanna.
