Seminar on Importance of the Intestinal Micro Flora in Health and
Disease and Role of Probiotics in Maintaining Good Health

NSS Wing of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in association with Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. organized a seminar on “Importance of the Intestinal Micro Flora in Health and Disease” and “Role of Probiotics in Maintaining Good Health” on 15th March 2018 at the Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The aim of this session was to create an awareness amongst student regarding importance of Micro Flora for digestion.
The seminar was attended by around 75 students of B. Tech 2nd Semester alongwith Prof Vinod Kumar HOD-APS, Prof. S.K. Srivastava, NSS Program Co-ordinator, Ms Devangi Grover and Mr. Prassan Sharma.
The event began with the floral welcome of Ms. Jyoti Bohra, Sr. Executive-Science, Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. by Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Hon’ble Director, DGI, Greater Noida.
Ms. Jyoti Bohra started the session with the discussion on the usefulness of probiotics for Indian conditions. She said that Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are beneficial for our health, especially the digestive scheme. People usually think of bacteria as something that causes diseases, but our body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they help keep our self-healthy.
Ms. Bohra, pointed out that researchers are yet attempting to calculate out which bacteria are best for certain health problems. Some common conditions they treat are Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Infectious Diarrhea (caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites), Antibiotic-related diarrhea etc.
Talking about the pressure of Probiotics, Ms. Bohra said that they are found in foods such as yogurt, while probiotics are found in whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, honey and artichokes. In addition, probiotics and probiotics are also added to some foods and are available as dietary supplements.
The session came to an end with group photograph, distribution of Yakult drink amongst all the participants and presentation of memento to Ms. Jyoti Bohra by Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti.
