AICTE Approved Faculty Development Program on
"Foundation Program in ICT for Education"

IIT Bombay organized a AICTE approved Faculty Development Program on “Foundation Program in ICT for Education” on 24th & 25th March 2018 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida (RC-1316) which was managed by Workshop Coordinator Ms. Monu Singh. This program was conducted under the aegis of Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission For Teachers & Teaching (PMMMNMTT), MHRD, Govt of India.
The objective of this program was to create an awareness about the use of ICT in education and to make learning more interactive for the betterment of the society at large.

Session-1
Padma Shri Professor Deepak B. Pathak chaired the inaugural session. He welcomed the participants and advised them to attend the program with zeal. Prof. Pathak stressed upon the use of ICT as an important tool in order to make teaching-learning effective. “Online educational methodology and flipped-classrooms are the order of the day”, said Prof. Phatak. He also delivered a brief lecture on file extension and shared his vast experience on how to create file, assign name to it, create folder, create subfolder, keeping metadata etc.
Session 2
Prof. Jayakrishanan M, IDP in ET, IIT Bombay, conducted sessions on :
- How to engage in higher order thinking in higher education?
- How to implement the higher order thinking in FDP-101?
- Why collaboration is needed in ICT?
- What may be the challenges faced in the process of quality learning?
- How to come out from all above situations with a proper solution?
Prof. Jayakrishanan demonstrated the creation and designing of a Webpage and its application. Dr. Sameer Sahasrabudhe, Dept of CSE, IIT Bombay suggested ways on how to make the webpages look attractive as well as meaningful at the same time.
Post lunch, all the participants created their individual webpage, using Wordpress.com under the guidance of Ms. Monu Singh. It was done as an assignment to be presented in the next session as Collaborative Activity.

Prof. Jayakrishanan M started the session with a discussion on how assignments and Group Activities have been done by the participants and RC Coordinators at several remote centers across India.
As the next assignment, Prof. Jayakrishanan asked the Remote Centers to interact among themselves for the better understanding of the course, nominating one RC amongst the group as the Nodal Center. Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was one of the nominated Nodal centres with 8 other RCs as its client. This assignment at Dronacharya was coordinated by one of the participants, Mr. Probeer Sahw, Head- Department of Electronics and Communication, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Mr. Sahw made a live demonstration on How to share the desktop at a common platform to make it available to all.
During the Valedictory Session, the feedback on “A-VIEW Breakout Sessions” was collected by Prof. Jayakrishanan M. Prof.Phatak thanked all the participants and urged them to continue participating in all such Development Programs in order to be able to groom the students in a much better way. Reacting to the view of one of the participants regarding obsolescence of teachers, Prof. Phatak said that there should be no such reason to be afraid of for the teachers if they continued learning and using the ICT.
Prof. Phatak hoped that the FDP would have made the participants future ready, equipped with ICT and its application to deliver better inside the classroom for the students who will take care of nation in time to come. He also anticipated that our nation will enjoy the taste of fruits, if we could put our sincere efforts to sow the seeds in right manner.
