Cloth Donation Camp

“Happiness doesn't come as a result from what we get, but from what we give.” Unused clothes in the wardrobe can bring smile on the faces of the needy people and the smile on the faces of others can definitely bring happiness in the donor’s life. There are many people in need of usable clothing. There are disaster victims, underprivileged people, and children in need of clothing, and the donations can help.
NSS Unit, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida executed “Cloth Donation Camp” from 25th – 28th December, 2023. The purpose of organizing the camp was to protect the needy people against the ongoing discomforts of winter season and to safeguard the dignity and self-respect of poor. A message towards protecting the environment by reducing wastage and promoting sustainability was also spread. Dr. S.K. Srivastava (Registrar, DGI), Dr. Pawan Sharma (HOD, Applied Science), Faculty members and 35 NSS volunteers went to the nearby areas to distribute clothes to the needy people. The locations covered for distributing the clothes were the adopted villages Tilwara, Kambakashpur and Gulavali. Different days were assigned for carrying cloth distribution drive at these locations.
Initially, a cloth donation drive was conducted at the college level and a notice was executed to all for donating their unused clothes. The drive’s response was overwhelming as many boxes of clothes were accumulated for donating to the needy ones. Different types and sizes of clothes were gathered in a span of 2 weeks. The clothes for men, women and children were segregated in different boxes for ease during time of distribution.
Later, the clothes thus collected were distributed by the students and faculty members. Heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the beneficiaries echoed the profound impact of the gesture.
