Dr. Abdul Kalam Inter-Technical University Sports Fest, 2023-24 (State Level)

Three students Shravi Singh (4th year, CSE), Mehak Bharadwaj (3rd year, CSE), Khushi Srivastava (2nd year, CSIT) got a golden opportunity to represent Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in Dr. Abdul Kalam Inter-Technical University Sports Fest, 2023-24 (State Level) after securing 1st position in Table Tennis Girls Zonal Event. SR Group of Institutions, Lucknow hosted the fest from 1st – 2nd December, 2023. Ms. Parul Singh (Assistant Professor, CSE Department, DGI) accompanied them as their team manager.
Approximately a thousand participants from 8 zones of the state competed in various sports from 75 Institutions. The sports included volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis, chess, athletics (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 400m relay, etc.) and more. The event was managed by Mr. Anurag Shrivastava.
The inauguration of the two-day event was started with march past ceremony. Distinguished guests included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Manish Gaur from the University, Student Welfare Professor OP Singh, Olympic Hockey player Sayed Ali, Sudhir Sharma (Vice President, UP Rowing), Dr. Manoj Kumar (Associate Dean - SW), Dr. Manik Chandra (Associate Professor), Malvika Bajpai (Yoga Coach), and other Olympic players. Then the students started to compete in various events.
DGI Girls were in Pool B and won their 1st and quarterfinal match. After lunch, the semi-final and final matches were conducted. It was a true delight to see the perfect sportsmanship showed by the DGI girls. Despite the loss, skills and determination on the table resulted in the selection of Mehak Bharadwaj in National Table Tennis Team and got an opportunity to meet Dean of AKTU.
At the end of the 2nd day, the Chief Guest, Dharmaveer Prajapati (State Minister for Prisons), engaged in a dialogue with the students and informed them that the increasing inclination towards crime among the youth is causing 80% of the offenders in jail to be under the age of 40. This indicates the need for a system to be established to make the youth aware of not engaging in criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of discipline in sports and urged all students to incorporate discipline from sports into their lives.
Later the winners were felicitated with certificates, medals and trophies by the Chief Guests.
Prominent personalities were also present at the event which included Dr. R.D. Sharma (Vice President of Rowing Federation of India), I.D. Sharma (University Collaboration) A.R.A. Vinay, B.S. Rawat (International Jury Member in Rowing) and Devendra Swaroop Shukla (Assistant Director, Central Excise).
With the motivational words of Institution's Chairman and Sitapur's MLA Pawan Singh Chauhan, the ceremony was declared as end.
