Startup 2.0 & Its Role in Environmental Sustainability

G20 is a group of economies that roughly represent 85% of the global GDP. With more than a million startups and a thousand unicorns G20 nations are a thriving ecosystem for startups and forefronts for innovations. India’s G20 presidency has launched a Startup 2.0 engagement group, a dedicated forum for startups. Since startups play an integral role in advancing technologies (especially in areas of education, healthcare, green energy etc.), it is believed that having Startup 2.0 under the G20 umbrella will have a positive impact on the global economy. Other than the economic benefits, Startup 2.0 also aims to promote environmental sustainability for a better future.
To understand India’s research Innovation and startup achievement and how India can contribute to the G20 Sustainable Development, ED Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a session on “Startup 2.0 & its role in environmental sustainability” under the guidance of Dr. S. K. Srivastava.
Dr. S. K. Srivastava explained how startups are important for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He added that India has a vast startup ecosystem, India has more than a hundred unicorns, thus India can help in contributing towards sustainability by their research and innovations. Dr. Srivastava further added how the Government of India is working towards sustainability by promoting the culture of startups. Many projects have been launched to contribute to green field energy that make India not only sustainable but also create numerous job opportunities. The Government of India has recently started the Startup Awards, to reward potential startups and ecosystem enablers. A lot of fundings is provided by the government for startups related to green energy. He explained how the G20 presidency & India’s initiative of Startup 2.0 has provided citizens a platform to show their research and innovations on a global platform.
