Essay Competition on Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity
26th April 2023
World Intellectual Property Day (WIPO) is celebrated every year on 26th April with the aim to raise awareness about the impact of patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs we have on our daily lives. This year WIPO was celebrated with the theme “Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity” to celebrate the achievements of women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs, to celebrate their can-do attitude and groundbreaking work around the world.
Women have shaped the world with their innovations from generations. Be it a scientific breakthrough or a business model, women have excelled everywhere. But when we see Intellectual Property, women bring very few patents to the table. Not many women have benefited from the IP. Thus it is our responsibility to make women aware of the IP Rights and how to use them to protect your talents.
With this initiative in mind, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an essay competition on the theme "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity" on World Intellectual Property Day on 26th April, 2023. Students actively participated in the event and presented their work. The competitions helped students to gain knowledge of types of IPR, ways to attain them and their role in establishing a successful venture. Students with best essays were awarded.
The day ended with a vote of thanks from the director Prof. (Dr.) Seema Shukla, she thanked everyone for participating in the event and making it a success. She also encouraged students to think out of the box and make full use of Intellectual Property Rights.
