Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights(IPR) and IP Management for Startup

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) provides an entrepreneur rights over their innovations for a certain period of time. Every Startup has IP Rights which are required for its proper functioning. Startups have to work in accordance with IP Rights and violation of them can cause penalties. With the rise in startup ventures and entrepreneurship in India, it is important to understand the IPR and their importance in entrepreneurship. To help students understand the meaning of IPR, Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and IP Management for Startup”. The keynote speaker of the workshop was Mr. Tanish Sexana (MindPeers India). 43 students along with 4 faculty members attended the workshop.
Mr. Tanish Sexana made students realize the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in building startups. The speaker demonstrated how the IPR holds the utmost value in running successful ventures. Workshop provided students with knowledge regarding IPR Laws in India, Industrial Designs and Patents, Trademark and copyright protection. In the next part of the session, students learnt different types of patents, procedure of patent filing, traditional patent system vs PCT system (International). After the session, students and faculties asked their queries which were addressed in detail by the speaker.
The session ended with a vote of thanks by Prof Sanghamitra, IIC Convenor. She thanked the speaker for such an informative session. She also thanked the students and faculty for actively participating in the workshop.
