Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida under G20 presidency initiative organized an ‘Expert talk’ on “Harmony within the Human Family” from 13th – 15th April, 2023. The students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college got the opportunity to learn basic human values.
The objective of the talk was to focus on ethical behavior, moral fortitude and to nurture a deeper understanding of the local and global world as concerned citizens of the world.
The eminent speaker of the session was Dr. Ritu Soryan (Dean, Students’ Welfare.) On 13th and 14th April, Dr. Soryan interacted with students.
She mentioned, the normal awareness anyone have about life, environment, and emotional state is likely to give more periods of unhappiness than joy. To get rid of this unhappy state, two choices are available; she said: to reduce/ lose awareness or to raise awareness levels to that of spiritual masters, to the level of evolved or enlightened souls. Dr. Soryan talked about competition, cooperation, and right understanding by giving an excellent example of Mr. Boris and his life disharmony. The interaction inculcated basic human values in all budding technocrats so that they can provide their services to society in a better way, make their lives with long-term real happiness, and understand how to live in harmony. The session taught the students to resist peer pressure, make decisions with courage, and emphasize problems related to happiness, welfare, aspirations, goals, and success in an individual's life, as well as challenges being faced by people at individual, family, society, and environmental levels.
On 15th April, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college understood the benefits of the Harmony within the Human Family. She gave five golden rules to promote harmony with family, society and within self. She then explained the golden rules of a harmonious family:
- Communication: Open and honest communication is the foundation of any harmonious relationship, including family relationships. She motivated the staff members to create an environment in family and in the college wherein all could share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear of judgment or criticism. When everyone feels heard and understood, it helps to reduce conflicts and misunderstandings.
- Respect: Mutual respect is essential for a harmonious family. Each family member should value and acknowledge the opinions, beliefs, and feelings of others. By treating each other with respect, it fosters a sense of unity and reduces any negative attitudes or behavior that can cause harm. By absorbing this trait, students too would feel connected with each other and would work towards accomplishment of higher goals together.
- Quality time: Spending quality time with each other is a great way to promote harmony within a family. She guided the ways through which faculty members could also spend quality time with students like games, meal sharing, guiding in competitions, etc. This would also create memories that would last a lifetime.
- Support: Providing support to each other is crucial in maintaining harmony. It can be as simple as listening or offering a helping hand. Supporting each other helps to build trust and strengthens bonds. Faculty members must also provide full support to the students throughout the 4-year journey.
- Flexibility: Being flexible is important in maintaining harmony within a family. Each member has different personalities, beliefs, and lifestyles. Being open to compromise and adapting to change is key in resolving conflicts and maintaining peace. Staff members must also be flexible and adapt to changes according to the trends of the industry.
In the concluding remarks, Dr. Ritu Soryan emphasized upon practicing these traits, thus building strong relationship and creating a positive environment for all-round growth and development. The session also helped at enhancing the self-confidence of students and staff, by which they can perform well academically and live with harmony.
