Awareness Session on Adolescent Health

NSS Unit, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an Awareness Session on ‘Adolescent Health’ on the occasion of “World Health Day” on 7th April, 2023. The session was carried in the nearby adopted village Kambakashpur. 25 students along with Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj and Mr. Ashish Kush went to Kambakashpur to illuminate the young minds.
The session started with an enlightened speech on different aspects of adolescence phases by Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj. She highlighted that Adolescence is a pivotal stage of life, characterized by physical, emotional, and social changes. Ensuring the well-being of adolescents is vital not only for their immediate health but also for their future as adults.
The students moved to the adopted village to make the local young children aware about the good physical, mental and sexual health. The topics for the programme were: physical, cognitive and emotional changes in an adolescent child, nutritional management, menstrual hygiene and stress management in adolescents. The students emphasized various healthy lifestyle practices to prevent disease and promote optimum health.
The students were divided into a group of 2 teams and approached the locals and spoke on the topics. The villagers had certain questions and were answered by the college students and the NSS coordinators. They also explained the need for balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients, supports growth and development. Regular exercise not only promotes physical fitness but also helps manage stress and maintain a healthy weight. They also spoke with the guardians of the young children and advised them to create a supportive environment and encourage open communication which can aid in coping with challenges like self-identity, peer pressure, and academic stress.
All the sessions were informative and were appreciated by all.
