Quality Enhancement in Engineering Education (QEEE) Session
On
"OBJECT ORIENTED DESIGN USING UML"
Conducted by IIT, Madras
12th, 15th & 19th February 2016
As a part of Initiative taken by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to work with Engineering Colleges of India to enhance the skills and knowledge level of the engineering students, QEEE's "Direct to Student (D2S)" program on"OBJECT ORIENTED DESIGN USING UML" was conducted at Dronacharya Group of Institution, Greater Noida on 12th ,15th & 19th February 2016. The session was conducted by Prof. Rajib Mall, HOD, CSE Department, IIT Kharagpur.
The objective of this training is to improve the technical skills of students so that the quality of education can be brought to an advanced level. Ms. Priyanka Tripathi, Assistant Professor of IT Department from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida co-ordinated the session.
First Day : 12th Feb 2016
Prof. Rajib Mall started the first day session on the topic "Object Oriented Software Design". The intent of the session was to introduce the students with basic concepts and UML, Object-oriented software development process, UML, Designing using UML. He gave idea about Aggregation, Composition, Interface, Abstract Class and Polymorphism in context with UML designing.
Second Day : 15th Feb 2016
Prof. Rajib Mall started the second session on the topic "Life Cycle Models for Object Oriented Software Development". He explained the methodologies adopted while developing software like Waterfall Model, Evolutionary Models, Incremental Model, and Agile Model. He further discussed their methodologies, documentation, principles and the steps involved in Use-case modeling, Interaction diagram, Sequence Diagram and Collaboration Diagram.
Third Day : 19th Feb 2016
Prof. Rajib Mall started the third session on the topic "Object Oriented Analysis and Design". He explained the required Design Process, Domain Model Relationships, Boundary objects, Entity objects and Controller objects. The students were briefed about some existing projects and the UML modeling involved with those projects like Video Rental Store Software, Personal Library System, IIT Security Software, Students’ Auditorium Management Software, Travel Agency Automation Software, Travel Agency Automation Software, Newspaper Delivery Automation System, City Road Maintenance System, Bookshop Automation Software, and Design Patterns.
This training program gave an exposure of UML designing techniques for real time projects. It acted as a stimulator for inculcating the UML designing skills in the tender mind of the students.
