Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida Instillation Ceremony of Rotaract Club

Instillation ceremony of Rotaract Club was organized at the college seminar hall on 16th February, 2015. Twenty two students of 4th Semester from all branches registered for the program. Prof. TPN Singh Advisor (R&D) was convener of the program.
The visiting dignitaries from Rotary Club International were as follows:
1. Rotarian Pankaj Rai – President Rotary Club of New Delhi
2. Rotarian Gaurav Bhargav – Secretary Rotary Club of New Delhi
Rotaract is the youth arm of Rotary International and was established in 1968 at North Carolina, USA. It has over 10,000 Clubs and nearly 2.5 lakh members. Rotaract focuses on development of young adults as leaders in their communities and work places. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings which features speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions etc. Club members get together for service project work, social events and professional development workshops. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development to address the physical and social needs of the communities.
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm and National Anthem was played. Prof. TPN Singh rendered the welcome address and briefed the audience about the Rotaract Club function and objectives. After the bouquet welcome to the dignitaries, Saraswati Vandana and lighting of the lamp was solemnized. Rotary Club president addressed the gathering and very elaborately spoke on the activities to be conducted by the Rotaract Club. Some of the major activities on which he gave emphasis were:
1. Hold fundraising events for Cancer Patients
2. Hold Blood Donation camps, pay a visit to Rotary Blood Bank in Noida
3. Spread Thalassemia awareness
4. Spread awareness about Water & Sanitation
5. Hold a discussion on Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
6. Hold Cleanliness drives & Tree plantation drives
7. Visit and support old age homes
8. Organize a self-defense workshop in the college for female students
9. Dig your closets and donate clothes “in good condition” to the needy
All student members were given the Rotaract oath in which they solemnly swore to uphold the constitution and bye-laws of Rotary International and those of Rotaract Club. The student members were called on the dais and the Rotaract badge was pinned on their shoulder lapels. Dr. S. K. Bagga, Director addressed the gathering and thanked the visiting dignitaries for their efforts and valuable time spent. Mementoes were handed over to the dignitaries along with gift sets. Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari, Faculty Coordinator of Rotaract Club proposed Vote of Thanks and the function came to an end at 5:15 PM.
