Faculty Development Program on
Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate
8th - 12th January 2024
Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in collaboration with ICT Academy, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate” from 8th – 12th January, 2024. The resource persons of the 5 day FDP was Mr. Raghvendra Singh from ICT Regional Office.
The objective was to enhance the proficiency of faculty members in Microsoft Power BI, enabling faculty to deliver high-quality education in the field of data analytics.
The program commenced with a warm welcome extended to Mr. Raghvendra Singh by Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Srivastava, Registrar. Mr. Raghvendra Singh delivered an insightful speech during the inaugural session, setting the tone for the enriching learning experience that lay ahead.
The training was structured into six modules, each designed to provide a step-by-step understanding of Microsoft Power BI:
Module 1: Get Started with Microsoft Power BI
- Introduction to Power BI: Overview of Power BI, Key features and capabilities.
- Power BI Desktop: Installation and setup, Interface and navigation, connecting to data sources.
Module 2: Prepare Data in Power BI
- Data Loading and Transformation:Loading data into Power BI, Data cleaning and transformation using Power Query.
- Data Modeling: Creating relationships between tables, Implementing calculations and measures, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) basics.
Module 3: Visualize Data in Power BI
- Introduction to Power BI Visualizations:Different types of visualizations available, Customizing visualizations.
- Building Reports and Dashboards: Creating and formatting reports, Designing interactive dashboards
Module 4: Analyze and Interpret Data
- Analyzing Data with Power BI: Exploring and interpreting data, Using quick insights and trends.
- Sharing and Collaborating, Sharing reports and dashboards, Collaborating with colleagues.
Module 5: Deploy and Maintain Deliverables
- Power BI Service: Overview of Power BI Service, Uploading and publishing reports to the Power BI Service
- Data Refresh and Security, Configuring data refresh, Implementing security measures.
Module 6: Advanced Power BI Features (Optional)
- Advanced Data Transformations: Advanced Power Query transformations, Merging and appending queries
- Advanced DAX Functions: Using advanced DAX functions, Time intelligence in DAX.
Ms. Richa Jaiswal (Head of Training and Placement,DGI) expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Singh and the participants for their active engagement. The program’s comprehensive curriculum, combined with hands-on practice, equipped faculty members with a strong foundation in Microsoft Power BI. The training has empowered them to excel in the dynamic field of data analytics and contribute meaningfully to the evolving academic and industry landscape.
