QEEE D2S Session On
Classification of Signals and System - Introduction to Signals and Systems
18th to 20th September, 2017
QEEE D2S Session on “Classification of Signals and System - Introduction to Signals and Systems” was organized by IIT, Madras under D2S (Direct to Student) Program. QEEE-Minor has been introduced in phase-VIII wherein the theory topics are self-study modules (through-Course pack) with proctored quiz to be administered by local faculty.
The session were conducted at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida from 18th to 20th September 2017. Prof. (Dr.) Arun Pachai Kannu (Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras, Chennai) was the resource person and Mr. Raj Ranjan Prasad (Assistant Professor, ECE, DGI Greater Noida) was the Local Faculty Coordinator for the session. 20 Students of ECE and EEE - 3rd Semester attended the session.
Day 1: 18th September 2017
The session started with the video lecture of Prof. Arun Pachai Kannu available in the course pack. In his lecture, he described the classification of signals and systems on the basis of continuous and discrete time. He explained the basis of signal transformation by using time shifting and time scaling in continuous and discrete time. He further explained the basic properties of continuous and discrete time signals like Even & Odd Signals, Periodic & A-periodic Signals, and Energy & Power Signals.
Day 2: 19th September 2017
The second day session started with the sampling and sifting properties of Delta Function. Prof. Arun later discussed the complex exponential signal in continuous and discrete time. He also explained the basic properties of systems like memory loss, causality, linearity, time-invariant, invertible and stability.
Day 3: 20th September 2017
Prof. Arun Pachai initiated his lecture with an introduction to Linear Time Invariant (LTI) System. He explained the Impulse Response of the signal, properties of Convolution and Interpretation Impulse Response of Real System.
The program came to an end with question and answer session, in which local faculty coordinator took questions from the students.
